Neste livro somos apresentados a uma protagonista que após um terrível acidente perde a memória. O foco principal da história acaba assim por ser a incerteza que a personagem tem acerca de quem é. Será que ao perder anos da nossa vida deixamos de ser as pessoas que éramos? Ao mesmo tempo Olivia tem toda a gente constantemente a dizer-lhe como se deve comportar, o que deve fazer o que é esperado dela. É quase enlouquecedor ver como as pessoas que se preocupam esperam tanto dela e são tão exigentes sem perceberem o momento conturbado pelo qual Olivia está a passar.
Sem dúvida que seguir os pensamentos e o estado de espírito de Olivia enquanto se redescobre foi compensador, mas sinceramente estava à espera de um pouco mais de drama. Drama no sentido de emoções confusas, desespero sobre a situação em que se encontrava e tudo o que daí advém. Apesar de Olivia realmente passar por um mau bocado senti que a acção era algo superficial e isso deixou-me um pouco desiludida.
Contudo o caminho que ela percorre até ser capaz de descobrir o seu caminho não deixa de ser interessante e foi engraçado ver como, apesar de tudo, ela se volta a reencontrar e volta a tomar exactamente as mesmas decisões. Como diz o seu irmão, ela tem a oportunidade de fazer tudo novamente e de voltar a ter imensas primeiras vezes pela segunda vez, algo que a maior parte de nós não tem.
